Nursing Education Programs

Entry in Practice
You can enter the profession of nursing by selecting from a variety of accredited nursing education programs designed to meet the diverse needs of both traditional and non-traditional students. All programs prepare students for the licensing examination.

 

 

 
Nursing education programs include:

Years
Associate Degree - These are typically two-year courses of study, usually in a community college, which confer an associate degree at the completion of the required course of study

Years
Diploma - These programs are typically 2 - 3 year hospital based programs that award a diploma at the completion of the required course of study. Some programs also award an associate degree as well as the diploma.

Years
Baccalaureate - The 4 year baccalaureate program confers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at the completion of the required course of study. Some baccalaureate programs also offer RN-to-BSN completion programs for registered nurses who graduated from associate degree and diploma programs.
12-14 Months Second Degree Options - Exciting new programs for those who have a degree in another discipline and wish to change their career path to nursing.

Years
Graduate Nursing Education -These programs award a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. They prepare nurses for advanced practice in a wide variety of areas including: education, practice, administration and informatics. There are many areas of specialization in the realm of clinical practice -- Family Nurse Practitioner and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, to name a few. Doctoral education may award a Doctor of Nursing Science (DNS) or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) upon completion of the program.
